Personal Blog of Mark Hoskins – Anarchist Writer and Community Organiser
…experience demonstrates that there may be a slavery of wages only a little less galling and crushing in its effects than chattel slavery, and that this slavery of wages must go down with the other.
– Frederick Douglas
What is this blog about? It’s about work, why we do it and what else we could be doing. It’s about the things we are kept away from as much as the things we do, the things we snatch moments from work to do and the possibilities of a different tomorrow. It’s about how billions of unemployed people want work to pay the bills a billions of employed people want to work less to have more time for the things they love. There will be theory, but also, I discuss how we can theorise our everyday experience to work towards a post-scarcity, post-wage labour society.
I’m an anarchist gene pool libertarian communist writer, philosopher, and organiser. I’m also influenced in part by autonomism, council communism, situationism, social ecology, feminism, existentialism, structuralism, and post-structuralism.
The things I love include spending time with my fiancé and our greyhounds; Bohemian FC; reading and watching sci-fi; good food, wine and beer; soul, jazz, house, ska, post-punk and psychedelia, and having a lie on.
